Captain, who me?

As unlikely as it sounds, I have been made captain of the Dad's team in our end of season, Dads v Coaches team.

Now to caveat, the coaches are all 

• younger (I estimate their average age is about 15 years younger than the team I am captaining), 
• faster
• stronger 
• more skillful 

than our team.

Am I expecting to win?

Who decides what winning is?

And therein lies the lesson that I have learnt over the past few years of hustling.  

It's the bonding, the camaraderie, the fact that we have made a new circle of friends who encourage each other - regardless of what the score is (read: how badly we get beat), we have won, because a group of us who hadn't thought of competing again, are now competing again.  

Comparison is the thief of happiness 

And so it is with the side hustle.  

I'm part of a group of comic book creators on Kickstarter, we all support each other in making books and launching Kickstarters.

Now, some get more funding than others, and I mean considerably more funding - the old me, may have called this 'doing a lot better', but I don't think that is accurate - they get more funding, that's for sure, the numbers don't lie - but everyone is doing it for their own reasons.

Raunchy and salacious books, get way more funding than other comic books do - so if more funding is the only metric one uses, then that person should make those kinds of books.

But if you're trying to win in life, then don't compare yourself to others, in fact don't compare yourself to anyone or anything.  

Know why you are doing what you are doing

Instead be clear on what you want to do, understand your why, then every step you take towards it is your win.  

I'm making Battle Panda, because I want to make the world a better place, that could equally mean making one person's world a better place.  

You are a big part of this, books need readers and readers need books - it's a virtuous cycle.
