Hey , hope this email finds you well, apologies for going MIA from emails for the past several weeks - but as you'll read the productivity has been intense.
I've moved away from the concept of wearing 'busy' as some kind of badge of honour towards the paradigm of being effective and accomplishing a lot over the past several weeks.
F.O.C.U.S - Follow One Course Until Success
I was away for the first few weeks as I wanted to single in on fulfilling all the print versions of the previous Kickstarter to all the backers.
I felt that I should not be doing anything else, until I had sent out copies of the comic book every single backer on the Digitopia 3 Kickstarter.
Printing and distributing comic books is not quite as simple as it seems
I used the Kickstarter add-on feature to give the option to allow backers to get different combinations of comic books, signed and non signed as well as art postcard packs bundled in with the package.
A custom and excise form needs to be attached to each package that leaves the UK - on these forms the exact weight of the package needs to be written - so the amount of work fulfilling the campaign took that bit longer.
The important thing for me was to not to start anything else until I had finished it - it was an interesting couple of weeks - getting that last batch delivered to the post office was really satisfying.
I'm really excited to tell you that I started a new project, I'm not going to announce it just yet as I'd like to get some art done and present it in a more polished form that I have it in at the moment.
I started to write a new book, set in a completely different world and genre to Digitopia.
I'll be writing more about that and the process behind it in the next few emails.
Last night I finished draft 5 of that story and sent it back to a fellow comic book writer to get feedback.
Setting targets and sticking to them.
I set myself the target to complete two drafts by the end of November, I had to put in a lot of effort to get it done, and again I'm happy that I completed it with a few days on the clock.
It's been great fun getting back into writing, the perfect antidote to all that fulfilment.
I'll stop teasing that out for now, but I hope to be back on sending out more regular update emails, sharing with you what's working in terms of balancing life, job and creative projects along with some of the best resources I've picked during my learning journey.
Thanks and tell your friends too
I know I always say thank you for your support, it is true this is hard to do on my own, I really appreciate every click, every like, every share and every comment that the content gets.
As always tell your friends about the book and
the blog - recommending your friends sign up is the best way for the audience to grow.
The best place to point your friends is to the sign up page where they'll get a free digital art book of Digitopia 1.0 and get to join the community.
Hope you're enjoying the content, stay safe and we'll speak again shortly.
Thanks
Farhan
