Hey , I wanted to let you know that the first, of what I hope will be many, story deep dives that I'm aiming to do is now up on YouTube.
You may remember last time out I emailed you about the book ' Pride of Baghdad' which completely rocked my world.
As soon as I read it I knew I had to do a video review of it, but the video review went further than a lot of reviews you see on YouTube.
Introducing the Story Deep Dive Concept
I find those reviews are often shallow and is just the reviewers opinion on whether they liked it or not.
I wanted to go much deeper into the story and
- find out more about the writer and art team,
- research who the publisher is and what types of work they publish,
- do a full on story breakdown,
- look at characterisation,
- explore the plot and wider themes of the book,
- examine the story structure (using the hero journey template) and
- do it in a way that is a debate rather than one person speaking to webcam.
It works better analysing it as a team
Bill actually interviewed me on episode 11 of the podcast, we really hit it off and I had one of the best interviews I done so far.
Haven't listened to that podcast?
No doubt it needs a bit of optimising with the format and some of the tech set up, we just ordered a new pro headphone with mic set up to improve the audio.
Last night, I made the intro and outro animations, which I think have come out pretty well.
I'd love to get your feedback on it
I'm very much aware that it is not perfect, there are things that I will improve upon next time out, but the first one just needs to get done and out into the world.
I want to get an indication on whether these types of Story Deep Dives are something that you want to see more of.
If it is something that you like, just hit 'Like' on the video itself and even leave a positive comment.
Thanks and tell your friends too
I know I always say thank you for your support, it is true this is hard to do on my own, I really appreciate every click, every like, every share and every comment that the content gets.
As always tell your friends about the book and
the blog - recommending your friends sign up is the best way for the audience to grow.
The best place to point your friends is to the sign up page where they'll get a free digital art book of Digitopia 1.0 and get to join the community.
Hope you're enjoying the content, stay safe and we'll speak again next week.
Thanks
Farhan
