hey, here's the four part guide on how to write a comic book - or any type of book for that matter
Published: Sun, 03/11/18
how's it going? I've got a bumper newsletter for you this week.
The four part guide on how to make a comic book is here
So as you may or may not know I've put together a four part guide on how to write a comic book, though I say a comic book this guide could be used for any type of book really.
basically the four parts break down into
Part 1: Start with the why
Part 2: What You Need to Have in Place
Part 3: The Comic Book Script
Part 4: The Budget and the Team
You can find all four parts on the main Digitopia site at

I'd love to hear your feedback on this - the best place is to leave a comment on the blog post itself.
Editing a trailer vs editing a narrative piece
It's been another busy week for team Digitopia this week, we're currently putting together a short trailer for the comic book - editing trailers is great fun, but it is completely different mindset from editing a piece of narrative.
I kind of think it akin to writing a synopsis vs writing a script.
Making a trailer, like writing a synopsis is about the big picture and trying to get across the promise of a whole story in the shortest possible time. What that doesn't mean is to show everything as quickly as possible, it actually means figuring out the beats that tell the story - depending upon which story guru you've read last, that could be 3, 7, 13 or even 22 beats plus the call to action - we've aimed to do the whole thing in under two minutes - let's just say this week has been one of many rewrites.
So tell me
We've spoken a bit about rewrites today, in fact I've spoken to a few people about the number or rewrites that go into a typical project and how many rewrites you should do before getting in a professional editor.
What is the number of rewrites you do before you're happy that your work (be it a (non)fiction, screenplay, or comic book script) is ready to be shown to a wider audience?
Are you the type of person who agonises a long time before getting it out into the world or do you like to get it out there as quickly as possible, gather feedback and improve it?

Sure this link will take you to page 1 of 'Digitopia: The Web Comic'
Want the paperback copy of the comic book?
This is the long game - and you can help in literally a couple of mouse clicks.
Just leave a 'Like' on any/all of the comic book pages - this will help spread the message over social media, letting your friends now and making you look really cool for introducing a new comic book to your friends - not bad for a few clicks.
The way in which we are going to make this comic book into a printed book is via Kickstarter - in order to run a successful Kickstarter campaign we need to have an audience, I would say we need probably at least 300 people who are regularly interacting with us - the best way is via the email list - if you could bring one or two people to the website and encourage them to sign up to the mailing list we can easily hit that target - so hit the letting your friends know about the comic book is the first step.
Okay hope the rest of your day goes well.
Catch up next week.
Thanks
