Digitopia Making of the comic book and how you can make your own
Published: Sun, 02/11/18
hope you're well, so tell me have you ever wanted to make your own comic book - or even regular book for that matter?
Well if the answer is 'yes', then this week's blog post is going to be perfect for you.
Even if the answer is 'no' then this week's blog post will still be valuable for you as I break down the steps for you and hopefully by the end of the post you'll see that there's not that many steps between writing something, putting it out into the world and reaching an audience.
You can read part 2 of the 'How to Write A Comic Book Series' here
So Tell Me
Seeing as we're talking about writing, are you writing anything at the moment?
What was the last thing you wrote, even if it was way back at school, be great to know - and it doesn't necessarily have to be a book. I know some of you are writing blog posts, screenplays and even writing plots for your games.
If you're not writing anything, then write me an email or better yet leave a comment at the bottom of the blog post telling us what you'd like to write about.
Team Updates
So one of the challenges we have on our team is that we're all working full time jobs and are all parents on the team - which in itself is a full time job. But not withstanding that we are still making fresh content - it's doable but is a challenge. I mentioned last week that I was going to have a surprise for you - we're nearly there, there's just a few edits remaining, I think/hope you're going to really like it.
We went through the storyboards of the Kickstarter trailer that we're putting together, this week we're aiming to have an animatic of the trailer ready - there's a part of me that wants to share the intermediate steps and show you the work in progress part of it and there's another part that says wait till it's finished then write a mega blog post showing the making of - which would you prefer?
a. to see the work in progress
b. to wait till it's all finished and see the making of
Need to catch up?
Sure this link will take you to page 1 of 'Digitopia: The Web Comic'
Want the paperback copy of the comic book?
This is the long game - and you can help in literally a couple of mouse clicks.
Just leave a 'Like' on any/all of the comic book pages - this will help spread the message over social media, letting your friends now and making you look really cool for introducing a new comic book to your friends - not bad for a few clicks.
The way in which we are going to make this comic book into a printed book is via Kickstarter - in order to run a successful Kickstarter campaign we need to have an audience, I would say we need probably at least 300 people who are regularly interacting with us - the best way is via the email list - if you could bring one or two people to the website and encourage them to sign up to the mailing list we can easily hit that target - so hit the letting your friends know about the comic book is the first step.
Next week's target is to update that landing page and give them a give-away (that's the surprise I've been promising you - well if you read this far down then you deserve to know what the surprise is:) in exchange for them joining the email list - the more you tell your friends the sooner we can hit the target and make this book real.
So till next week - have a great one.
